VENEZIA

I unearthed my grandmother's travel diaries this year. Wrapped around the dog-eared notebook from a trip to Venice was a scrap of colorful bark cloth that covered her patio glider. Borrowing the cloth’s luminous colors set against a black ground, I repurposed carved and cut-up Sintra plates to echo a watery world.

This body of work is inspired by the timeless ebb and flow of the Venetian waters and the shadowed terrain in between. The prints remind me of a far-away place that my grandmother and I both loved and those times I relaxed on her patio glider.
